You’ve seen me wear this dress earlier this summer and I love it too much to stop wearing it this fall. But the million dollar question is: How do you make your favorite summer dress work in fall? It’s as easy peasy as changing a couple of things. Scroll down to read my 3 tips.

  1. Layering. Combine the lightweight dresses from the summer with the heavier pieces you need during fall, i.e. jeans or wool trousers or you can also wear your cashmere turtleneck sweater below it, especially if said dress has a plunging  or a one or off-the-shoulder neckline. As I’ve previously mentioned before, in order to wear a dress over pants it simply needs to have buttons in the front or slits, so that the jeans can be seen. If it’s a hi-lo dress, then the task to layer it on top of pants or jeans becomes even easier. Extra tip: For the more advanced fashion pros, wear your summer dress below a knit or net dress or below a wool wrap or mini skirt.
  2. Change your Accessory Game. Instead of wearing dresses with sandals, like you normally do during summer, opt for sock boots or cold weather appropiate footwear. Swap your straw bag for a more structured leather one.
  3. Add Outerwear. If the weather is far too cold to wear the dress alone or even with a turtleneck layered underneath, then it’s time to take out your outerwear. Wear a trench or duster coat, your leather jacket, or simply a cardigan over your dress et voilà.

That’s pretty much it. If you have better or cleverer ideas on how to continue wearing your favorite summer dress during fall, let me know in the comments below.

Wishing you all a great Friday. x
