Going oversized can mean running the risk of looking shabby if you are not careful. However, there are some tricks and tips that are useful to consider when wearing wide leg pants or oversized coats in order to avoid looking like if you are drowning in your clothes.
Here are a few tips on how to achieve the oversized look:
1. Balance. If you wear an oversized item, you should combine it with a fitted piece. For instance, in this look I went for wide leg trousers but paired them with a slim, fitted coat. And viceversa, if you wear a wide coat, combine it with skinny pants.
2. Playing with Proportions, Lengths, And Shapes. Wide garments can create flattering shapes as long as you play with proportions and different lengths. If you wear wide leg pants with a wide coat, simply belt it to create a feminine silhouette, or if you wear a wide midi skirt, pair it with a short fitted jacket.
3. Tailoring is Your Best Friend. Oversized doesn’t automatically mean shapeless or ill-fitting, so immaculate tailoring will instantly elevate your outfit and make it look put-together and elegant.
4. Structure. Structured garments define lines that can instantly slim and elongate your figure. For instance, a slim full length structured coat creates vertical lines and the illusion of a long silhouette.
That’s my advice on how to achieve the oversized look and how to wear wide leg pants. Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve?
Wishing you all a great Sunday. xFollow me via Bloglovin'
