If you are thinking about how to wear sock boots this season, look no further than to pair them with a full length coat and deconstructed jeans for edgy vibes, yet elegant vibes.
Sock boots have been having a moment for a few seasons now thanks to Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga. I’ve actually been a huge fan of this higher shaft and tighter ankle boot style for a few years now. I find that they look very flattering not only with straight cropped jeans or cropped flares, but also with dresses and midi and mini skirts.
However, my favorite way to wear sock boots has to be with deconstructed jeans and a full length coat.
Some of the characteristics that I feel sock ankle boots should have and which you should take in consideration:
- Shaft Length Can Make Or Break A Sock Boot. That’s right, if the shaft is not long enough and it doesn’t go slightly above the ankle or longer, than I say skip it. If there’s a feature that makes this kind of boots flattering it is the fact that the shaft is longer than your average ankle boot.
- Not too Wide Not Too Tight. You want to avoid the shaft being too tight, since it will broaden your ankles. The opposite, i.e. too wide shaft, is also not the look you are looking for.
- Go for Comfortable Heel Height. While I really love Balenciaga’s Knife Boots, I find them wayyy too high. The 12cm heel must kill your feet after walking 5 steps. Good news is: Kitten heels are having a huge moment now, so sock boots with kitten heels are a great and comfortable option. If you are not into the kitten heel look, then there are plenty of options in the high street of sock boots with mid heels.
- Opt for Dark Colors. I think the idea of wearing sock boots shouldn’t look as if you were wearing tights either, which is why nude tones are a no-go. Instead go for black or grey.
How about you? Are you into sock boots?
