My secret on how to wear a checked coat like a badass instead of like a grandpa? Besides choosing wisely your footwear and accessories, my trick is to simply experiment with contrasting tones. In this case I’ve combined this grey checked coat with rust leather pants and a matching turtleneck. A pop of color and a clean, contrasting texture will take your outfit from boring to chic in no time. You can also combine different tones in the same color family, i.e. dark and light browns or camels.

My footwear of choice for a checked full length coat has to be sneakers, but you can also wear flat mules or sock boots. Accessorize with a cool beanie for laid-back vibes or with a beret for an edgier and more sophisticated look. Add a cool pair of sunnies and presto!

How about you? How would you wear a checked coat?
