This season is all about layering your dress over jeans or over pants, aka light layers. This can often be quite tricky to accomplish, but I have some tips for you to achieve an ultra-modern everyday look wearing the trend:
- The good, the bad, and the ugly dresses to layer over jeans. The good: If you are thinking about how to layer a dress over jeans, the question is all about what kind of dress you are going for. While most dresses can work, I strongly recommend sticking to shirt dresses if you want to keep it low key. However, if you are going for a bold outcome, wear a tulle dress over your trousers and underneath more layers. Ultra feminine and romantic dresses are also a highly recommended and super trendy option. The bad: Avoid by all means wearing bodycon dresses.
- The right jeans or trousers. Cropped trousers, jeans, or culottes are definitely the best options, but you can also wear wide leg pants and even flares beneath your dress. While straight legged and cropped jeans are the most popular choices, you can also try cropped flares.
- The footwear. Mules, mules, and more mules are always a good idea. Flat, block heeled, or stiletto heeled mules will work with any outfit layering a dress over jeans or pants. Sock ankle boots and strappy sandals are also great alternatives.
How about you? Do you have a favorite way to wear a dress over jeans this season?
